The Psychological Vulnerability of French University Students to the COVID-19 Confinement

Even before the current pandemic, university students were known to have high levels of hassles, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. In all probability, advent COVID-19 has substantially raised these levels. The present study measured emotional state during lockdown identified relevant situational psychological factors. To this end, 1,297 French assessed lockdown, which lasted from 16 March 11 May in France. Situational factors included belief that was compromising their future job prospects, symptoms, health concerns. Psychological students’ implicit theory emotion, coping strategies they used lockdown. We explored extent associated with Results indicated prospects positively related hassles ( r = .34, p < .001), while concerns about own relatives anxiety .37 .34; .001). addition, use positive reframing strategy mediated effect emotion on though national is now over, pandemic will continue a major impact over coming months. It therefore essential for universities provide them adequate support.
